SAFE (Student Advisors for Education), founded in 2006, is a student-organized, student-led branch of the Parents Education Network and is comprised of more than 50 students from Bay Area public, independent and parochial schools. SAFE is a student community that strives to educate, mentor, and support students, parents and teachers regarding the challenges and strengths of LD and ADHD students. It’s an extraordinary organization for students with diagnosed learning differences to become leaders in awareness and advocacy for learning difference issues in the Bay Area. The next SAFE Voices monthly meeting is Saturday, February 5th, at The San Francisco Friends School, 250 Valencia St. All meetings are always open to any student interested in joining SAFE. Come check it out!
There will be a panel of SAFE students talking about the organization and their own learning issues on Monday, February 7th, at Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo. This free event will take place from 7-9 PM at 451 West 20th Avenue, San Mateo 94403.
