This conference gave me some great ideas for further reading on the subject of learning and the brain. Here are a few of these; I encourage you to check them out, too!
Understanding the Brain: The Birth of a Learning Science. This book is a good entry point for understanding what’s really at work in the brain during learning. I like this book for its chapters that concentrate on “neuromyths”, or misconceptions about how the brain works that might mislead or otherwise hinder learners and teachers alike.
