Volunteer Opportunity: St. Anthony’s 60th Anniversary Celebration

Join in on a very special day by participating in St. Anthony’s 60th Anniversary celebration. On Saturday, September 24, two blocks will be closed off for live music, activities, and serving 10,000 BBQ chicken meals outside the Dining Hall on Golden Gate Avenue. Sign up to help with the food service shift (8am – 2pm) where you might be asked to work behind the counter to prepare containers, be a runner taking food from the kitchen outside, or serving the elderly. Volunteers for this event must be high school girls or older or a younger girl who is a regular St. Anthony’s volunteer.

On Saturday, September 24th, St Anthony’s will be celebrating its 60th anniversary by hosting a very special outdoor lunch block party with plans to serve over 10,000 BBQ chicken lunches to the underserved community as well as community leaders and politicians. The organization will close down two blocks in front of their dining room in order to handle the numbers of people attending the lunch. I am writing to see if Convent might have some high school students and their parents that might like to volunteer at this very special event. I know St. Anthony’s is in great need of more volunteers to help serve meals that day so I let them know I would contact you. The shift for the lunch is 8am – 2pm.
Dress is casual with closed and comfortable shoes – you’ll be standing most of the time. T-shirts will be supplied and are yours to keep! The shift includes orientation, training, and breaks to enjoy the festivities. Lunch is provided. This is a complete shift – please sign up for the entire time. Report to the volunteer tent at the beginning of your shift.
If you’d like to help, please sign up by Tuesday, 9/20.  Please feel free to contact Brenda  at bbbottum@aol.com or 309-3156.
