Volunteer Opportunity: Breakthrough SF

This is a wonderful opportunity that sophomores Jackie Wong and Zoe Baker have done in the past. Check it out! — PMK

My name is Sasha Mungal, Director of Volunteer Programs at Breakthrough San Francisco. I have some upcoming volunteer opportunities that your students may be interested in for this spring. Breakthrough San Francisco (formerly Day School Summerbridge) is a member of Breakthrough Collaborative, a national educational nonprofit that launches motivated middle school students with limited educational opportunities on the road to college and encourages young professionals to pursue careers in education.

We are looking for tutors to work with middle school students during our after-school tutoring program.  The program starts on February 4 and goes through the week of April 29 with training taking place on January 29 from 5:00pm-8:00pm.  We are looking for volunteers to commit to tutoring at least one day a week for the semester. Tutoring runs from 3:30 to 5:30pm Monday through Thursday.  We are located at the San Francisco Day School (350 Masonic Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94118).

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through Friday, January 18, 2013.  I have attached a flyer and the tutor.  If you would like me to mail additional copies of the flyer or application, please let me know and I’ll send them your way.  The application can also be found here:

Applicants can check out the website at www.breakthroughsf.org or contact me (Sasha Mungal) at sasha@breakthroughsf.org or 415-568-3667 for more information.

Thank you for your support of our program.  Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

Best,
Sasha
